COMMUNITY PROGRAMS

Village Beautification

The goal of the MSOCA's Beautification Program is to keep the Village of Mt. Sterling clean and beautiful. Village government cannot do that alone and MSOCA assists by sponsoring the planting of seasonal flowers throughout village limits and provides resources during the annual community clean-up days.

MSOCA sponsors the annual Beautiful Yard Contest for local residents sponsoring prizes for first, second, and third place. The Beautiful Yard awards are a recognition of the hard work and pride exhibited by Mt. Sterling residents. We are proud to have residents who strive to beautify their homes in Mt. Sterling. The contest was created to recognize village residents who have maintained or improved the exterior appearance of their homes. Entries are evaluated on home maintenance, landscaping, and overall general appearance.

In addition, MSOCA provides American Flags to display throughout the Village.

Community Dinner

As a joint effort, MSOCA and the American Legion Post 417 host a free community Thanksgiving dinner at the post on the Saturday prior to Thanksgiving. Members of MSOCA and the Legion's Ladies Auxiliary prepare, serve, and deliver meals to local residents.

Giving Tree Program

During the Annual Christmas in the Village, MSOCA provides new and gently used winter hats, gloves, scarfs, coats, and blankets to local residents that need them.

Bright Bites Program

MSOCA is a proud sponsor of the Mount Sterling Community Center's Bright Bites, a program designed to provide weekend meals for students in local school districts in Madison County.

The goal of Bright Bites is simple: to ensure students have access to extra food over the weekend so they return to school on Monday nourished and ready to learn. Food bags are delivered every other Friday.
